Mike Geppert

Mike Geppert (born October 16, 1964 ) has been Professor of Comparative International Management and Organization Studies at the University of Surrey since 2006 . In 2013 he accepted a professorship for Strategic and International Management at Friedrich Schiller University Jena .

Career

Geppert studied sociology and did a doctorate in organizational sociology at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He gave lectures in organizational sociology at the Humboldt University. This was followed by teaching activities at Swansea University and the Queen Mary, University of London . In 2006 he began teaching in Surrey, and in 2013 he accepted an appointment at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena.

In addition to these full-time activities, Geppert also worked in visiting professorships, for example at the Copenhagen Business School , Berlin Science Center for Social Research (WBZ), Erasmus School of Economics , Cambridge Judge Business School , University of Regensburg (economics), Lomonossow University , Friedrich Schiller University Jena , Wake Forest University and Stanford University .

Geppert has been a member of the board of the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS) since 2010 . In 2012 he was re-elected in this capacity. He has been the organization's treasurer since 2011. In addition, he coordinates one of the Standing Working Groups (SWG 11) of the EGOS.

Research interests

Geppert deals with international management and organizational theory. He examines socio-political aspects in multinational companies and conducts comparative management and organizational studies.

Honors

Geppert's doctoral studies (1991–94) were supported by the Hans Böckler Foundation . In 2002 he received the Caroly Dexter Award from the Academy of Management in Denver, USA for the best international article.
