Michael "Mike" Thomas Gminski (born August 3, 1959 in Monroe , Connecticut ) is a former American basketball player of Polish origin who played on the position of the center in the NBA .

Career

Gminski initially played for Duke University for four years . He left them as the best points collector, rebounder and shot blocker in team history. He was then in the 1980 NBA draft by the New Jersey Nets ausgewhält seventh, where he for eight years at the side of Buck Williams a talented frontcourt turned and moved in 1982 to 1986 five times in the playoffs. Even with the Sixers, to which he moved in 1988, Gminski remained an important part of the rotation and in his prime averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds. In 1990 he moved to the young Charlotte Hornets , where he lost a lot of performance due to injuries. His last NBA station were the Milwaukee Bucks , where Gminski played 10 season games. During his career, Gminski averaged 11.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.1 blocks. He ended his career with a very good career free throw rate of 84.3%.
