Mike Moffat

Mike Moffat (born July 27, 1982 in Calgary ) is a Canadian luge rider .

Mike Moffat has been tobogganing since 1991. The student competes in a two-seater and earlier also in a single. Initially, Grant Albrecht was his partner. With him he was 13th in the Luge World Cup 2000/01 , 21st in the singles. The 2001 Luge World Championships brought the doubles in sixth place, a 19th in the singles and the seventh with the Canadian team. In the Olympic Games of Salt Lake City the double Albrecht / Moffat Twelfth was.

After the Olympic Games, he formed a new team with his older brother Chris Moffat , whose partner Eric Pothier started with Albrecht. At first, Albrecht / Porthier were the slightly more successful duo. Since the 2005/06 season , Moffat / Moffat have again belonged to the extended world elite. Both finished eleventh in the overall World Cup and ninth in the 2006 Olympic Games . They also finished the overall ranking in 2006/07 in tenth, the 2007 Luge World Championships in twelfth. In the overall ranking of the 2007/08 World Cup , doubles were 14th. The best result of the season was ninth place in Altenberg . In Königssee he came second in the team competition. At the Luge World Championships 2008 in Oberhof , Moffat / Moffat finished tenth, with the Canadian team they finished seventh. In the 2008/09 season the duo repeated their second place in the Altenberg team competition. In the overall standings for the two-seaters, they finished 17th, but did not take part in three races of the season. In the other races they placed between nine and twelve. At the 2009 World Championships in Lanke Placid , the Moffats were able to confirm their tenth place.
