Miki Zohar ( Hebrew מיקי זוהר* 28. March 1980 in Kiryat Gat ) is an Israeli politician of the Likud - the party and lawyer .

Life

Zohar studied law at Bar Ilan University and works as a lawyer in Israel. In 2004 he became president of the Israeli basketball club Maccabi Kiryat Gat BC Zohar has been a member of the Knesset since 2015 . Zohar is married and has four children.

In March 2017, Zohar said:

“The two-state solution is dead. What remains is a one-state solution , whereby the Arabs do not have full citizenship here, otherwise they can take part in the Knesset elections. In their city they are [each of] the vote and a candidate can, with administrative autonomy , under Israeli sovereignty ... "

Zohar suggested that Israel annex the occupied West Bank . The Palestinians living there should receive Israeli citizenship, but should be excluded from the right to vote . His proposal has been compared to apartheid in the Israeli press .

In June 2018, Zohar caused an international stir when he praised Netanyahu , saying:

“Israeli society belongs to the Jewish race. And the Jewish race is the smartest, most intelligent and best human capital. "

The Israeli fascism researcher Zeev Sternhell sees MPs like Zohar (and Bezalel Smotrich ) as a sign of growing racism and fascism in Israel and compares them with the early stages of National Socialism.
