In 1908, Takayasu presented the case of a 21-year-old woman who had visited him in 1905 and 1908 at the 12th annual meeting of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society ( Nihon ganka gakkai , English Japanese Ophthalmology Society ). The patient suffered from impaired vision. The examination of the fundus showed vascular anastomoses . The case report was also published. In addition to Takayasu, the ophthalmologists Ōnishi Katsutomo and Kagoshima Tsurukichi also presented similar recordings at this conference and added to their cases the observation that the pulse of the radial artery ( radial artery ) was not palpable.
