Mikkel Andersen (born December 17, 1988 in Herlev ) is a Danish football goalkeeper . Since 2015 he has been under contract with the Danish first division club FC Midtjylland .

Career

Andersen's career began at AB Copenhagen , where he joined the first team in January 2006 and signed a professional contract there. In January 2007 he was transferred to the English Premier League club Reading FC . The transfer fee was in the six-digit range. However, he couldn't prevail there.

He was loaned to Torquay United in February 2008 and then returned to Reading in March 2008 as his loan deal expired. A little later Reading was relegated to the Football League Championship . In November 2008 Andersen was loaned out to Brentford FC . Further stations were Brighton & Hove Albion and the Bristol Rovers as well as Portsmouth FC and Randers FC . In June 2015 Andersen moved to FC Midtjylland .

Mikkel Andersen plays for Denmark's U21 national team . He had his first international U-21 game on February 10, 2009 when he came on as a substitute for Jonas Lössl in the half-time break in a 1-0 win against the U21 side of Malta . For a long time he was number 2 behind Lössl. In 2011 he was nominated by U-21 national coach Keld Bordinggaard for the preliminary U-21 squad for the U-21 European Football Championship 2011 in his home country and also made it into the final squad.
