Jonas Bybjerg Lössl (born February 1, 1989 in Kolding ) is a Danish football goalkeeper . He moved to English first division club Everton at the beginning of the 2019/20 season and has been on loan at Huddersfield Town since January 2020 .

Career

Lössl, whose last name comes from a German grandparent, comes from the youth team at Kolding IF , from which he moved to FC Midtjylland . On March 6, 2010, the 19th game day of the Superligaen season 2009/10 , he came in the game against Odense BK for the first time and made his professional debut. As a result, he was used eleven times in the remaining 14 games. FC Midtjylland finished sixth at the end of the season. In the Danish cup competition Lössl reached the final with FC Midtjylland and lost 2-0 to FC Nordsjælland .

In the 2010/11 season Lossl played in 30 games. FC Midtjylland qualified for participation in the second qualifying round for the Europa League . In addition, Lössl reached the cup final with the team again, in which they were again subject to FC Nordsjælland. In the 2011/12 season Lössl only made his season debut on September 18, 2011 in a 2-0 win on the ninth matchday of the league. In the league game operation he came to 25 missions and took third place in the table with FC Midtjylland, with which one qualified for participation in the play-offs of the Europa League . In the Europa League he made seven appearances and was eliminated in the round of 32 against Dynamo Kiev .

For the 2016/17 season Lössl was signed by the German Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 . His contract ran until 2019.

For the 2017/18 season he was awarded to the newly promoted Premier League Huddersfield Town . There he asserted himself against Robert Green and Joel Coleman as a regular goalkeeper. In March 2018, Huddersfield Town used a purchase option and committed him to the 2018/19 season. After his contract expired, he moved to Everton for free at the beginning of the 2019/20 season . After half a year without playing at Everton, Jonas Lössl returned to Huddersfield Town on loan.

National team

From the U17 onwards, Lössl played seven international matches for the Danish junior teams, including the U20s. From 2009 to 2011 Lössl was used in 15 matches in the U21 . For the European Championship qualifier against Iceland in September 2010, national coach Morten Olsen called him for the first time in the Danish A squad , but did not change him into the game. Lössl made his first game in the senior national team on March 29, 2016 in the game against Scotland ; he was substituted on for Kasper Schmeichel at halftime .
