Morgan Schneiderlin (born November 8, 1989 in Zellwiller ) is a French football player . He plays in Ligue 1 at OGC Nice .

Career

Early youth

Schneiderlin began as a child to play football with schoolmates on the pitch of the local SR Zellwiller , which his grandfather had founded. He was ambitious, and after his family introduced him to a scouting for the regional racing club Racing Strasbourg at the age of five , Morgan was immediately accepted into their youth department. With the U-19 team, he won the Coupe Gambardella , the French A youth trophy, in 2006 .

society

In the same year he was the youngest player to be awarded a professional contract by Racing. He made his professional debut on October 27, 2006 in a 2-0 win over FC Gueugnon in Ligue 2 . Racing rose to Ligue 1 at the end of the season . Schneiderlin made three appearances there during the 2007/08 season . At the end of the season, the club was relegated again.

The English second division FC Southampton secured the services of the talent in the summer of 2008 and paid a transfer fee that can rise to £ 1.2m. At Southampton, the defensively oriented midfielder established himself immediately and impressed with his clarified style of play, but could not prevent the club, who had to accept a ten-point deduction, from relegation to Football League One . In the third highest English division Schneiderlin formed the Saints' midfield center with Dean Hammond . The play-off places and thus the possibility of direct promotion were not achieved due to the still existing ten-point deduction. Due to an injury Schneiderlin also missed the final of the Football League Trophy 2010 at Wembley against Carlisle United , which Southampton won 4-1. The promotion finally succeeded as runner-up in the 2010/11 season , Schneiderlin was often absent during the second half of the season due to injury. In 2012 he rose with the team in the Premier League . There he remained an important part of the team, which managed to establish itself steadily in the upper half of the table from the 2013/14 season and to develop into a serious contender for the Champions League places in the following year.

For the 2015/16 season Schneiderlin moved to Manchester United . He received a four-year contract with the English record champions until June 30, 2019 with an option for a further year. In January 2017 Schneiderlin moved to Everton FC

After 12 years in England, Schneiderlin moved to OGC Nice at the age of 30 .

Schneiderlin has been a regular member of the French junior team since the U-16s and won the Val-de-Marne tournament with the U-16s in 2004 and the Montaigu tournament in 2005. With the U-17s, he was successful in the 2006 Algarve Cup. With the U-20s he took part in the 2009 Mediterranean Games as captain , after defeats against Spain and Libya he just missed a medal with fourth place. The following year he was on the squad at the Toulon tournament when the French team finished third.

Schneiderlin made his first of three appearances for France's U-21s on September 7, 2010, when he was in the starting eleven against Malta in the qualifying game for the 2011 European U-21s .

On June 6, 2014, Schneiderlin was nominated for the injured Clément Grenier in the squad of the French national team for the 2014 World Cup, despite a lack of international experience from Didier Deschamps . Just two days later, he made his debut for a few minutes in the Bleus' final friendly against Jamaica . At the World Cup finals, he completed the third group game against Ecuador (0-0) over the entire distance as a substitute for the suspended Yohan Cabaye , although this was his only appearance in the tournament.

At the 2016 European Football Championship in his own country, he was included in the French squad . He moved up for the injured Lassana Diarra , but, like two other outfield players in the squad, was not used in the tournament.
