Club career

RC Lens

Cyprien comes from the RC Lens youth academy , which he joined from Paris FC in 2008 . He made his debut in the first team on January 23, 2013 in the 3-0 cup win against Stade Bordelais , in which he was on the field for the entire game. His Ligue 2 debut followed five days later in a 2-1 away defeat by FCO Dijon . In his first season 2012/13 he played 15 competitive games. He scored his first goal for Sang et Or on November 2, 2013 in a 2-1 home win over SM Caen . In this season he was able to play successfully in the rotation with 23 appearances and achieved promotion to the first-class Ligue 1 with his club with 3rd place in the table .

In his first first division season 2014/15 he was already part of the permanent staff in most of the games and was used in 33 league games in which he scored two goals and as many assists. Despite his athletic advancement, he had to accept relegation to Ligue 2 with his club after a year. After long-standing relegation worries in the next 2015/16 season , Lens made it to sixth place with an excellent second half. Cyprien contributed a large part to this with seven hits in 34 missions.

OGC Nice

After more than 100 competitive games in the RC Lens jersey, Cyprien moved to the first division club OGC Nice on July 27, 2016 , where he signed a five-year contract. He made his debut for the south-east French club on August 14, 2016 (1st matchday) in a 1-0 home win against Stade Rennes . He scored his first goal a month later in a 3-2 home win over Olympique Marseille . In the 4-1 home win against FC Nantes on October 30th, he managed a brace. His first 2016/17 season ended on March 10, 2017 , when he tore a cruciate ligament in the 2-2 draw against SM Caen. By this time he had long since developed into a regular at Nice and had nine goals and three assists in 34 competitive games.

This injury also cost him the entire first half of the following season 2017/18 , as the rehabilitation phase lasted until mid-December. He played his first game of the season in the 4-3 cup win on penalties against OSC Lille on December 13, 2017. On January 21, 2018, he scored his first goal of the season in a 1-0 home win against AS Saint-Étienne . As a result, he pushed back into the starting line-up and ended the season with two goals and two assists in 21 competitive games. In the 2018/19 season , Cyprien retained his place in the midfield of the Aiglons . On February 23, 2019, he led his team onto the field as captain for the first time in the 1-0 defeat at SC Amiens . In the 1-0 home win against HSC Montpellier on matchday 31, he injured his adductor and was no longer used until the end of the season. By then, Cyprien had played in 30 competitive games in which he was able to score four goals. In the following season 2019/20 he scored seven goals and three assists in 20 league appearances up to an injury-related failure.

National team

Wylan Cyprien represented his French homeland in several junior selections, starting with the U16 , for which he made nine appearances and scored two goals.
