Ignatius Kpene Ganago (born February 16, 1999 in Douala ) is a Cameroonian football player who has been under contract with the French first division club RC Lens since July 2020 . The offensive player has been a Cameroonian international since October 2019 .

Career

Ignatius Ganago, born in Douala , comes from the renowned youth academy École de Football Brasseries du Cameroun, in which later stars such as Samuel Eto'o , Geremi Njitap and Rigobert Song played. In July 2017 he switched to the youth team at OGC Nice , where he was assigned to the reserve team. There he showed good performances early on and due to this he was ordered into the first team for the first time in August 2017. On August 22, 2017, he made his debut in a 2-0 home defeat against SSC Napoli in the men's UEFA Champions League qualification when he came on for Mario Balotelli in the 77th minute . In the 4-0 home win against AS Monaco in his first league game for the Aiglons , he scored the last goal of the game after being substituted on. He then played in a few competitive games, but was soon reassigned to the reserve. In total, he played 11 competitive games for the first team in this season, in which he was able to score a goal. For the second selection in the Championnat National 2 , he scored eight times in 12 league games.

He was also able to score in his first league game in the following season 2018/19 when he scored 1-1 in the 82nd minute of the away game against SM Caen . From October 2018 he was a regular substitute, but was not able to score again until the end of the season. In total, he completed 20 league games this season, in which he made two goals. He retained this status in the following season 2019/20 and was regularly used in the rotation. He scored three goals in 26 league games and prepared another hit.

On July 10, 2020, Ignatius Ganago moved to Ligue 1 promoted RC Lens , where he signed a four-year contract.

National team

On October 12, 2019, Ignatius Ganago made his international debut for the Cameroonian national team in a 0-0 draw in a friendly international match against Tunisia .
