In 2012, Bashir founded Peek.com, a platform for travelers and locals to share activities in various vacation destinations. Bashir is still CEO at Peek, she has received investments from Eric Schmidt , Jack Dorsey , and David Bonderman, among others . She met Peek's co-founder and CTO, Oskar Bruening, in New York. The decision to start a company together was made at the end of the day of their first meeting. In November 2013, Bashir announced Peek Pro, a suite of applications to assist tour operators. The following month, Peek launched a mobile version of their website.

In 2014, the company Peek announced another successful financing round, in which 5 million dollars were collected. In the March 2004 election, Bashir prevailed against James Forsyth. Following the election, she faced allegations of campaigning for votes on the day of the election. In a statement from friends of Bashir, they said that the resistance to their election was solely due to their skin color and their affiliation as a Muslim . In return, the arbitral tribunal that was set up found Forsyth guilty of having acted abusively in the context of the election. The Guardian reported that as a result of this incident, the student union's rules were changed to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Since 2009, Bashir has been suspected of having a relationship with British actor Toby Kebbell . It is said that they first met at a Christmas party. In February 2009 they attended the 62nd British Academy Film Awards together .

On August 29, 2014, Bashir published an article in the Guardian describing her experiences as a victim of sexual abuse. The article, at the time of publication, was linked to the investigation into the abuse of 1,400 children in Rotherham, England. The abuse cases occurred between 1997 and 2013. Bashir denounced the lack of awareness of abuse in the British-Pakistani community and associated taboos. She urged communities to provide the victims with the support they need and to hold the perpetrators accountable.
