Beni Tangama Baningime (born September 9, 1998 in Kinshasa ) is a Congolese football player . The central midfielder was trained at Everton and played his first Premier League games in the 2017/18 season .

Career

Beni Baningime joined the youth division of Everton FC at the age of nine, which trained him to be a central midfielder. He went through the age groups of the youth teams up to the U-23 selection, with which he won the Premier League 2 in 2017 . During the 2017/18 season, Everton's former interim coach David Unsworth promoted him to the professional squad after the dismissal of Ronald Koeman . He played his first game in the English top division in the second half against Leicester City (0: 2) on October 29, 2017 and after another appearance in the Europa League against Olympique Lyon (0: 3), he was 3: 2 -Win against Watford for the first time in the Premier League in the starting XI - all within a week. In January 2018, Baningime signed a new four-year contract with the "Toffees" under the new coach Sam Allardyce and by the end of the season the newcomer had played a total of eleven competitive games. He was convincing in the central midfield with his strengths in the build-up of the game, in passing and in endurance, which made him compared to Idrissa Gueye and N'Golo Kanté .

When Marco Silva succeeded Allardyce in the summer of 2018 , Baningime was still in the extended squad of the first team. However, an ankle injury in the summer preparation resulted in a forced break until the end of October. This was followed by a loan deal with the second division club Wigan Athletic , which baningime should bring match practice in the further course of the 2018/19 season. The hope was not fulfilled, because after only one appearance in February 2019 against Rotherham United (1-1), he was not taken into account until his return to Everton in May.

Baningime is potentially eligible to play for both the English and the Congolese national teams .
