Fabian Delph (born November 21, 1989 in Bradford ) is an English football player . He is under contract with Everton FC .
Career
In the club
Beginnings
Delph began his football career at Bradford City , a club from his hometown. His talent was recognized early on and he moved to Leeds United on the recommendation of long-time Bradford City player and coach Paul Jewell , with whose son he played in his youth . There he spent five years in his youth before being called up to the reserve. On May 6, 2007, he made his debut in the first team at the age of 17 (0-2 against Derby County ). In 2008 he signed his first professional contract with Leeds United.
After he was used twice as a substitute in the 2007/08 season, he convinced at the beginning of the 2008/09 season and scored his first goal for the professional team of Leeds United in the 5-2 win over Crewe Alexandra . At the start of the 2008/09 season, various Premier League clubs such as Newcastle United and Arsenal were interested in the young midfielder, the latter offering Leeds six million pounds for a move. At the beginning of the winter transfer period, the recruiting of larger and financially stronger clubs began again and again the club management around shareholder and President Ken Bates rejected the offers: “We explained to both clubs that we don't deal in petty cash and they were Premiership clubs as well . ”(German:“ We explained to both clubs that we do not trade with small sums of money. There were also Premier League clubs ”). So Delph stayed with Leeds United beyond the winter. Shortly thereafter, he scored the "goal of the season" with a spectacular goal in a game against Brighton .
These achievements earned him a nomination for the League One Player of the Year award, which ultimately went to Matty Fryatt . However, he was voted Young Player of the Year at the Football League Awards .
Aston Villa
After Leeds United had missed promotion to the Premier League, several clubs from England's elite league were interested in the talent willing to change, including u. a. of FC Everton , Manchester City , of Fulham , Tottenham Hotspur , the AFC Sunderland and Aston Villa , where he decided finally. In the winter of 2012 he returned to his youth club, Leeds United , on a month-long loan .
Manchester City
In the summer of 2015, Delph was linked with a move to Manchester City . Delph then published a statement on the Aston Villa website on July 11, stressing that he would not leave the club and lead the team into the new season as team captain .
"I'm not leaving. I'm staying at the football club and I can't wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club "
Six days later, on July 17, 2015, Delph signed a five-year deal with Manchester City. In his first season, Delph appeared under Manuel Pellegrini in 17 league games (8 times from the start) and scored 2 goals. At the end of the season he won the League Cup with City . For the season 2016/17 took Pep Guardiola the team. Due to an injury, he only made 7 league appearances (2 times from the start) in which he scored one goal. In the 2017/18 season , Delph was increasingly called up as a left-back. He came to 22 league appearances (21 times from the start) in which he scored one goal. In his third season with City, Delph was the English champion and League Cup winner. In the 2018/19 season Delph was used less again, mostly as a backup on the left-back position. He made 11 league appearances (8 times from the start) and was again champion, League Cup winner and FA Cup winner for the first time .
Everton FC
For the 2019/20 season, Delph moved to Everton FC , where he received a contract that ran until June 30, 2022.
National team
Delph was nominated for the first time in 2008 for the English U-19 football selection and made his debut as a substitute. His only game for England's U-21s he made on November 18, 2008 in the 2-0 win against the Czech U-21s , in which he came on in the 86th minute for Craig Gardner .

Others
On December 23, 2008, Delph was arrested in Rothwell for drunk driving and fined £ 1,400. He was also deprived of his driver's license for 18 months and asked to cover costs of £ 60 incurred.
