Miklós Duray (born July 18, 1945 in Lučenec ) is a Slovak politician and publicist of the Hungarian minority in Slovakia .

Life

He started his political career in Csemadok . Between 1965 and 1968 he was chairman of the Attila József Club in Bratislava. After 1971 he worked as a geologist. Duray is a signatory to Charter 77 . Amnesty International and PEN-Club protested because of his arrests in the 1980s . From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Czechoslovak Parliament, from 1994 to 2010 in the Slovak National Council (Parliament). Duray has been the vice-chairman of the Hungarian Commune Party (Magyar Közösség Pártja) since 1999 . He has been a member of the leadership of the Hungarian World Federation (Magyarok Világszövetsége) since 1991.
