11 times Lower Silesian champion

From 1906 to 1933, the Lower Silesian men's soccer championship was played in the Southeast German Soccer Association (SOFV) , with ATV Liegnitz winning the most titles. The Lower Silesian champions qualified for the final round of the Southeast German championship .

history

The Lower Silesian football championship was initially held in a group. From 1913 the championship was divided into several districts, the winners of which played the Lower Silesian championship. The division of the Gaue varied, until 1920 there were the Gaue Liegnitz and Schweidnitz . In 1921 the Gaue Glogau , Waldenburg and Wohlau were also created. From 1923 there were only two groups (Liegnitz A and Liegnitz B), but one group (Liegnitz C) was added as early as 1924. In 1925 they played again in two groups and from 1926 there was only one group that played the Lower Silesian football championship in a round- robin tournament . From the 1929/30 season onwards, the Lower Silesian runner-up was also allowed to take part in the southeast German finals.

The Lower Silesian championship was dominated by clubs from Liegnitz. The ATV Liegnitz was champion ten times in a row. In the late 1920s and early 1930s , VfB Liegnitz dominated with seven championships in a row. At no time, except in 1912, could one seriously compete for the Southeast German championship. Teams from Breslau, Upper Silesia or Lower Lusatia regularly won the final against teams from Lower Silesia. The only notable national success was winning the title of ATV Liegnitz in 1912 and then participating in the German soccer championship 1911/12 , as well as the Southeast German runner-up in 1931 , which came about by drawing lots. In the course of the Gleichschaltung, the Southeast German Football Association was dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. Thus the Lower Silesian district class ceased to exist. From 1933 the clubs were assigned to the Gauliga Schlesien or its substructure.
