FC Viktoria Forst
8 times Niederlausitz champion

The Niederlausitzer football championship for men was played between the 1904/05 and 1905/06 season in the Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine and from the 1906/07 to 1932/33 season in the Southeast German Football Association (SOFV) , with SC Alemannia Cottbus being the first and FC Viktoria Forst has won the most titles.

history

The Niederlausitzer Championship was initially played in a group. Organized under the Association of Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine, the master qualified for a play-off against the winner of the Association of Breslauer Ballspiel-Vereine for participation in the German football championship. In both 1905 and 1906 the Niederlausitzer champions lost to SC Schlesien Breslau and could not take part in the championship finals. With the introduction of the Southeast German Football Association, the winner qualified for the final round of the Southeast German championship , in which the participant in the German football championship was played off. From the 1922/23 season, the championship was played in three groups (Forst, Cottbus, Senftenberg). The respective winners qualified for the final group in which the master was played. From the 1925/26 season they played in a group again. Since the field of participants kept growing, the runner-up also qualified for the final round of the Southeast German championship from the 1927/28 season. In 1913/14 and 1925/26 there were also two representatives from Niederlausitz in the south-east German final round, since the defending champion was automatically qualified for the final round and in those years the defending champions came from Niederlausitz and at the same time another club took first place in the district class Niederlausitz.

From the beginning, the Lower Lusatian football championship was dominated by clubs from Cottbus and Forst (Lausitz) . In the 1910s and 1920s, it was still possible to provide Southeast German football champions, but this was no longer possible in the late 1920s and early 1930s, and in terms of quality it fell behind other clubs in the Southeast German Football Association. In the course of the Gleichschaltung, the Southeast German Football Association was dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. Thus the district class Niederlausitz ceased to exist. The clubs from Cottbus, Forst and Guben were assigned to the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg or its lower leagues from 1933 , while clubs from the southern area of the former district class Niederlausitz (for example Hoyerswerdaer SV 1919) were assigned to the Gauliga Silesia including the substructure.

League division

The Niederlausitz soccer championship was mainly played in the single-track district class Niederlausitz. Only in the seasons 1922/23 to 1924/25 was the district class divided into the three districts of Cottbus, Forst and Senftenberg , whose respective winners played the championship in a final round and thus also played off the participants in the south-east German final round. The Niederlausitz district class existed from 1904 until the National Socialists were brought into line in 1933.
