From 1910 to 1933, the Oberlausitz men's soccer championship was played in the Southeast German Football Association (SOFV) , with STC Görlitz winning the most titles. The Oberlausitzer Meister qualified for the final round of the Southeast German Championship . This football competition should not be confused with the Gauliga Oberlausitz of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs , which was held at the same time and included clubs west and south of Görlitz.

history

The district class of Upper Lusatia was initially divided into the Gaue Görlitz and Sagan , the winners of which played the Upper Lusatian Championship in a playoff. In the 1920/21 season, the Hirschberg district was added. From the 1921/22 season, the Upper Lusatian Championship was played in a group. Since the 1928/29 season, the Upper Lusatian runner-up has also qualified for the southeast German championship finals.

The Oberlausitzer Championship has been dominated by clubs from Görlitz and Sagan since the beginning. With the exception of 1930, a club from one of these two cities was always able to win the championship. At no time, however, could one seriously compete for the Southeast German championship, too often one was defeated by clubs from Breslau , Lower Lusatia or Upper Silesia . In the course of the Gleichschaltung, the Southeast German Football Association was dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. Thus the district class of Upper Lusatia ceased to exist. From 1933 the clubs were assigned to the Gauliga Schlesien or its substructure.

League division

The Oberlausitz football championship was played predominantly in the single-track district class of Oberlausitz. Only in the seasons 1913/14 to 1920/21 was the district class played in several districts, the respective winners of the championship and thus also the participants in the south-east German finals in a final round. In the 1913/14 season and in the post-war 1919/20 season there were Gaue Görlitz and Sagan, and in the 1920/21 season there was also Gau Hirschberg. The Niederlausitz district class existed from 1910 until the National Socialists were brought into line in 1933.
