Askania Forst was founded in 1901 in the cloth-making town of Forst (Lausitz) , the playground was on Heidestrasse in the Berge district to the east of the Lausitz Neisse . Since the Association of Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine was dissolved for the time being in 1901 and a re-establishment failed, Askania Forst , like other clubs from Niederlausitz, decided to play in the Association of Free Berlin Football Association . In Series III, which took place in the summer of 1902, a total of 14 teams took part. Askania Forst reached seventh place with an even point scoring of 13:13 points. After the re-establishment of the Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereinigung , Askania also became a member. In order to classify the teams in the 1st and 2nd class, the association organized qualifying games. Askania Forst met local rivals SC Vorwärts Forst and won the first leg 3-1. Then Askania went against the later long-term city rival FC Viktoria Forst , lost the game and thus played in the 2nd class of Niederlausitz from the 1904/05 season. After only the penultimate place was achieved in the first season, the promotion to the 1st class of Niederlausitz could already be celebrated in the 1905/06 season.

In 1906 the Südostdeutsche Fußball-Verband (SOFV) was founded and from then played on to the southeast German soccer championship , the winner of which qualified for the final round of the German soccer championship. The participating SOFV clubs were divided into regional district classes of equal rank, the winners of which played the Southeast German soccer championship. Askania Forst played in the first-class Niederlausitz district class from then on, thanks to the promotion last season. In the first season , the club reached third place ahead of local rivals FC Viktoria Forst and only had to admit defeat to clubs from Cottbus. After the disappointing 1907/08 season , in which they finished last with only one win and one draw and only narrowly escaped relegation thanks to a victory in the relegation game against FC Deutschland Forst , Askania was able to secure third place again the following year . In the 1909/10 season , Forst was the first time Lower Lusatian football champion with 16: 4 points and thus qualified for the first time for the finals of the southeast German football championship. Askania won in the quarterfinals against the winner of the Lower Silesia region, ATV Liegnitz , 4-0. Askania received a bye in the semifinals . The final against VfR 1897 Breslau took place on April 3, 1910, Askania Forst had to admit defeat to the strong Breslauers 1: 3.

Askania Forst was able to build on this success in the coming seasons . In the 1910/11 season , Forst confidently won the Niederlausitz district class. In the quarter-finals of the south-east German finals, SC Preußen Görlitz was clearly beaten 8-0. By bye in the semi-finals, Forst reached the final, which took place on April 14, 1911 in Forst (Lausitz) . Against the sports club Germania 1904 Breslau , the Forster were able to prevail 3-2. However, the Breslauer protested against the game evaluation because of a referee mistake and got the SOFV right, so that a replay was necessary. This was held on April 16, 1911 in Cottbus , again Askania Forst won , this time with 3-0. This was the first time that Forst was the Southeast German champion and was allowed to take part in the German soccer championship 1910/11 . On the Alemannia-Platz in Cottbus, Forst lost the quarter-finals on May 7, 1911 just 3-2 against the eventual finalists VfB Leipzig , after a 1-1 was held at halftime. The 1911/12 season was marked by frequent cancellations and protests in the Niederlausitz district class, so that this championship was canceled due to deadlines. The SOFV decided that no representative from Lower Lusatia was allowed to take part in the final round, so the club of the SOFV, which was probably the strongest team at this time, was not allowed to take part in the final round. In the 1912/13 season Askania Forst was again sovereign Niederlausitzer football champions. It was the third championship title of Niederlausitz and should also be the last. In the final round of the Southeast German soccer championship in 1913, Forst benefited from a non-appearance by SC Preußen Görlitz, which meant that Forst entered the semi-finals without a fight. In this one met the final opponent from 2 years ago, the SC Germania Breslau . The game was won 2-1, but like two years ago, Germania Breslau again successfully protested. But the Forster also won the replay 2-1 and thus moved into the final of the Southeast German soccer championship. The Forster surprisingly lost the final against FC Preußen Kattowitz on April 6, 1913 with 1: 2. For unknown reasons, the Forster successfully protested this time and thus obtained a replay. This took place on April 16, 1913, Askania Forst won 4-0 and was thus the Southeast German soccer champion for the second time . At the subsequent German football championship in 1912/13 , Forst met VfB Leipzig again, just like two years earlier . However, the eventual winner of the tournament was too strong, Forst clearly lost the game with 0: 5.

With the season 1913/14 the changing of the guard began slowly in Forster football. For the first time Askania had to admit defeat to local rivals FC Viktoria Forst in 1st class Niederlausitz and reached second place, but was also allowed to take part in the association's finals as the southeast German defending champion. After a 6-0 win over DSV Posen and a 9-0 win over SC Preußen Görlitz , Askania Forst reached the final, which took place on April 19, 1914. Thanks to a 3: 1 success through the Breslauer Sportfreunde club , Askania won the Southeast German championship title for the third time. In the subsequent German football championship , Forst was eliminated again in the quarterfinals by a 4-0 away defeat against Berlin BC .

1919 to 1933 regional mediocrity

No football championship was played during the First World War . The first regular season took place again in 1919/20 . However, Askania Forst initially struggled to find enough players. Many football players had to go to war and died as a result of the war or came back home as disabled. In the first season after the war Askania Forst could only play two games, both of which were lost. Nevertheless, you were qualified as defending champions for the southeast German finals. In the quarter-finals, they managed a 4-0 victory over Saganer SV . In the semifinals, however, the Forster had to admit defeat 0: 1 to the eventual series winner United Breslauer Sportfreunde . This was the last season in which Askania Forst could reach the finals. In terms of quality, they are now finally behind their local rivals FC Viktoria Forst and the Cottbus football clubs. In a few seasons, Askania was only number three in Forst, behind Viktoria and Germany. Most of the time the season ended in a front midfield position. Except for 1926/27 , when Askania held the top division by just one point, the club never had to deal with relegation to the district class.

1933 to 1945 second class

In the course of the Gleichschaltung, the Southeast German Football Association was dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. The majority of the SOFV clubs were assigned to the Gauliga Silesia and the associated lower leagues after 1933 , only the clubs from the Lower Lusatia district class were assigned to the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg or the associated lower leagues. Only the last-time Niederlausitzer football champions were entitled to a place in the top Gauliga, all other clubs were classified in the league hierarchy. Askania Forst therefore played for the 1933/34 season in the second-rate district class Frankfurt (Oder) / Lausitz Group South. For the 1934/35 season there was another regrouping of the district classes, Askania was assigned to the district class East Lusatia. The results are currently only partially available.

Situation after the Second World War

Askania Forst's stadium, Askania-Platz, was located in the former Berge district , which was east of the Neisse (just like the FC Viktoria Forst stadium ). After the Second World War , the territory fell to Poland . The Polish troops dismantled all buildings, public facilities and roads in order to obtain building materials for the reconstruction of the interior. With that, the Askania Forst football club also ceased to exist. A new establishment took place neither on the western (German) nor on the Polish side.
