Association of Niederlausitzer ball game clubs

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine (VNBV) was a local football association in Niederlausitz that existed from 1900 to 1906. Then he went on as the district of Niederlausitz in the southeast German football association .

history

The VNBV was founded in the spring of 1900 at the suggestion of SC Victoria 1897 Cottbus . Besides Victoria, the SC Alemannia 1896 Cottbus , TuFC Britannia Cottbus , FC Rapide 1899 Sandow and the FV Brandenburg 1899 Sandow were among the other founding members. As happened in other places and regions in the past, football was also imported into Niederlausitz via Berlin. Wilhelm Mischke from Cottbus got to know the sport during his stay in the capital and brought it to his hometown in 1893. After the usual initial difficulties, Mischke succeeded in founding FC Germania Cottbus, the first football club in Niederlausitz, in the summer of 1893. In 1896 FC Germania was renamed SC Alemannia Cottbus. Since there were no other local football clubs, friendly matches against Berlin clubs could only be held occasionally. Not until March 1897 was a second club, FC Fidel Cottbus, that was renamed SC Victoria 1897 Cottbus in October of the same year . In contrast to Alemannia (and most of the clubs at that time), Fidel's membership consisted mainly of workers.

After a further break, the TuFC Britannia Cottbus was founded in the spring of 1898. In the same year attempts were made to found a football club in the Cottbus suburb of Sandow, but it was not until 1899 that the project was successful. In spring 1899 the FC Rapide 1899 Sandow was founded, in May a second club was founded with the FV Brandenburg 1899 Sandow. Rapide quickly reached the level of the Cottbus clubs, as foreign players who had traveled to join the club.

In the course of 1900, other clubs joined the Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine, so that at the beginning of the first championship season in October, eight first and three second teams were registered for the game operation. In November and December of that year, three teams withdrew, and in early 1901 another six teams withdrew, which meant that the championship had to be terminated prematurely. Only Brandenburg had two playable teams throughout the season. The number of members in the other clubs fluctuated so much that they could not dispose of any teams capable of playing. In Cottbus, the city provided a soccer practice area with a number of “changing rooms” to clubs free of charge. The project was made possible by financial support from a major industrialist.

The VNBV must have been dissolved in the spring or summer of 1901, since in September of J. is reported that the association "fell asleep gently". At the end of September 1901 a new attempt should be made to create an "organization for Niederlausitz football sport". The project must have failed.

In the seasons 1901/02, 1902/03 and 1903/04 no championship games were played in Niederlausitz. On January 14, 1904 (according to another source January 17, 1904) the Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine association was re-established in the Hohenzollern restaurant in Forst (Lausitz) . The founding clubs this time were SC Alemannia 1896 Cottbus , FV Brandenburg Cottbus , TuFC Britannia Cottbus , SC Victoria 1897 Cottbus , FC Askania Forst , FC Amicitia Forst, FC Deutschland Forst, FC Hohenzollern Forst, SC Preußen Forst, FC Viktoria Forst , and SC Vorwärts Forest. Erich Schulz from FC Amicitia Forst became the first chairman . From March to May, qualifying games were played in two classes in order to be able to divide the clubs for the following 1904/05 season according to their skill level. The game was played in three classes. Six first teams played in first class and five in second class. The third class consisted of the six reserve teams of the 1st class. In addition to the clubs from Cottbus and Sandow, clubs from Forst have now also participated. In just a few years a number of clubs had emerged there, which slowly reached the level of the Cottbus clubs.

In the last season of 1905/06, four classes were played. On his III. and at the same time the last day of the association on August 12, 1906, the association Niederlausitzer Ballspiel-Vereine decided to “drop the name VNBV and is now called the Niederlausitz district of the Southeast German Football Association ”.
