The mikveh in Griedel , a district of Butzbach in the Wetterau district in Hesse , was discovered in 1984. The mikveh at Bruderstraße 15, in the back yard of a larger residential building, is a protected cultural monument .

description

It is believed that the mikveh originated in the 19th century when the property became Jewish. The facility of the ritual immersion bath is an independent structure made of basalt rubble and is not integrated into an existing building. The appearance is very similar to a vaulted cellar .

Plunge pool

The plunge pool is 85 cm wide and 140 cm long. The depth is 105 cm. The four steps that lead into the plunge pool are very steep. The walls are clad with bricks and the floor is covered with oak planks.
