Mila Kopp

Mila Kopp (born October 20, 1904 in Vienna , † January 14, 1973 in Stuttgart ) was an Austrian actress .

Life

The civil servant daughter Emilie Kopp studied at the teacher training institute in Vienna and initially became a primary school teacher. But in 1923 she made her stage debut as Emilia Galotti in Pilsen . She was in Prague in 1924/25 and came to Stuttgart in 1925, where she was part of the ensemble until 1936. She was the Gretchen in Faust , the Rose Bernd and the title character of Shaw's Die Heilige Johanna .

Mila Kopp worked at the Münchner Kammerspiele from 1938 to 1941 . She played Queen Gertrude in Hamlet (1939) and the title role of Maria Stuart (1940). From 1941 to 1944 he worked at the Schiller Theater in Berlin under the artistic director Heinrich George .

From 1946 until her death, Mila Kopp was part of the ensemble at the Stuttgart State Theater . From 1950 to 1955 she also worked at the Deutsches Theater Göttingen . With particular success she embodied tart character roles and particularly suffering mothers like Mother Courage , Mother Wolffen in Der Biberpelz and Mrs. John in Die Ratten . She made several guest appearances at the Salzburg Festival , most recently as a mother in 1970. She was only seen occasionally in film and television.

Mila Kopp had been married to the actor Christian Kayßler (1898–1944), the son of Friedrich Kayßler , since the twenties and was often on stage with him. Their children were Maria and Martin Kayßler, who also became an actor.

Mila Kopp has suffered from severe hip problems in recent years and sometimes played in a wheelchair. She died of circulatory failure.
