Milan Dekleva (born October 17, 1946 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian poet , writer , playwright , journalist and translator

Life

Milan Dekleva studied comparative literature at the Philosophical Faculty in Ljubljana . He was a long-time journalist and editor for the Slovenian daily newspaper Dnevnik and on Slovenian television. With numerous excellent works, he is one of the most important writers of Slovenian modernism and postmodernism . He received the renowned Kresnik Prize for his novel Zmagoslavje podgan (The Triumph of the Rats ) about the Slovenian playwright Slavko Grum . In 2006 he was awarded the highest cultural prize in Slovenia, the Prešeren Prize , for his life's work . He lives in Ljubljana.
