Milčo Mančevski (in Cyrillic: Милчо Манчевски, often transcribed as Milcho Manchevski ; born October 18, 1959 in Skopje ) is a North Macedonian film director and screenwriter.

Life

Milčo Mančevski studied at the Faculty of Art and Archeology at the University of Skopje , then at Southern Illinois University , where he graduated in 1983 with a degree in film and photography. After working as a cameraman for commercials, among other things, he was the author and director of several music videos . a. Hot day in Mexico (1985) by the band Bastion from Skopje (for which he also wrote lyrics) and Tennessee (1992) by Arrested Development (1992), which won the MTV Video Music Award for Best Rap Video .

He became internationally known in 1994 for his feature film Pred doždot ( Before the Rain ), which won the Golden Lion at the Venice International Film Festival .
