Mildred Miller

Mildred Miller Posvar , née Müller (born December 16, 1924 in Cleveland , Ohio) is an American opera singer ( mezzo-soprano ).

Life

She received training from Marie Simmelink Kraft. After graduating with honors in 1946, she worked in Stuttgart and Munich as well as at the Edinburgh Festival.

Miller was discovered by Rudolf Bing , the general manager of the Metropolitan Opera New York, and made her debut on November 17, 1951 as Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro . Her last stage appearance at the Met was on December 3, 1974, after which she founded the Opera Theater of Pittsburgh in 1978 .

She is married to Wesley W. Posvar and has three children.
