(1191) Alfaterna is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 11 February 1931 by the Italian astronomer Luigi Volta in Pino Torinese was discovered.
The name of the asteroid is derived from the former city of Nuceria Alfaterna , located between Pompeii and Salerno . Today the place Nocera Superiore is located here .
