The Mill Creek ( English for "Mühlbach") is a small river in the west of the US state Virginia .
It rises on the border of the Counties Augusta and Bath and flows first in a southwesterly direction through Bath County. At the hamlet Yost opens Little Mill Creek in the creek. Further downstream near the settlement of Hotchkiss , the direction of flow of Mill Creek changes briefly by 180 degrees to the northeast, then the creek crosses Panther Gap to the southeast.
Panther Gap is a short breakthrough valley through Mill Mountain , one of the numerous mountain ranges in the Appalachian Mountains . Alongside a main road (marked Virginia State Route 39 as well as 42 ), a railway line has run the valley since the mid-19th century. This Staunton to Clifton Forge route is also used by Amtrak's Cardinal (New York - Chicago) long-distance train .
At the Panter Gap, Mill Creek reaches Rockbridge County . It flows into the Calfpasture River near the Town of Goshen . It belongs to the catchment area of the James River .
