Resident in London since 1903, Rosmer worked in the Hampstead district at the Everyman Theater both as an actor and as a director. For a time he was also director of the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon . Theater guest appearances have taken him to the United States and Canada . His later theatrical successes include the play “ Twelve Miles Out ” in 1927 and the crime show “ Gaslight ” in 1939 .

From 1915 onwards, film began to play a central role in Milton Rosmer's artistic career. By the early 1920s, the actor developed into a popular character mime, especially in crime stories, literary adaptations and dramas. In 1920 he played Heathcliff in the first film adaptation of Storm Heights . From 1926 onwards, Rosmer turned to film directing for around a decade. He often staged in collaboration with a colleague. In 1930 a film adaptation of the Dreyfus affair was made , in 1935 a British version of Erich Kästner's classic children 's book Emil and the Detectives and in 1937 the English version of Luis Trenker's drama about the first ascent of the Matterhorn Der Berg ruft , here under the title " The Challenge ". From 1938 Rosmer returned for another ten years as a character supporting actor in front of the camera. After his film career ended in 1948, Milton Rosmer played in several television films until 1956 and also turned back to the theater: For example, he was seen in the 1953 London premiere of Agatha Christie's crime and court drama " Witness for the Prosecution ".
