Milton Sparrow

Milton Sperling (born July 6, 1912 in New York City , † August 26, 1988 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer .

Life

Sperling began his career in the film business as a runner and travel agent for Paramount Studios in Long Island City. After moving to Hollywood , he worked as secretary to Darryl F. Zanuck and Hal B. Wallis . In 1936 he wrote his first screenplay for Sing, Baby, Sing . From 1941 he also worked as a film producer.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II . After the war, he founded his own film production company, United States Pictures.

He and his colleague Emmet Lavery were nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Original Screenplay in 1956 for the screenplay for Damn Silent .

From 1977 he turned to the production of television films. His last film was Dead and White from 1987.

Sperling was married and had four children.
