Mimmo Calopresti (actually Domenico Calopresti , born January 4, 1955 in Polistena , Province of Reggio Calabria ) is an Italian documentary filmmaker and film director .

Life

In 1985 Calopresti won the Cinema Giovani di Torino festival with the video production A proposita di sbavature ; in the same year he began working on the audiovisual archive of the Movimento Operaio . He realized some documentaries, including the Ripresi that was created in the Turin prison and Alla Fiat era so about the auto union . With his flair for social issues, he worked more and more for television. In 1996, he debuted with The second time the feature film , which he also writer wrote and starred. Around ten papers followed by 2010. His films have been nominated for awards several times; with Is love just a word? In 1998 he won the Nastro d'Argento for the best original story. Since that film, Calopresti has also been producing himself; very occasionally he appears as an actor with colleagues.
