The Minaret Peak is a 1613 m high mountain in the Ellsworth Mountains of the west Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises at the northwest end of the Marble Hills in the Heritage Range .
The summit got its name from a research expedition from the University of Minnesota , which visited the area in the Antarctic summer between 1962 and 1963, because its tip resembles a minaret . The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names adopted this proposal as its official name in 1964.
