The Mindröl Ling tradition is a sub- school of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism . The Mindrölling Monastery, along with Kathog , Pelyül , Dzogchen , Shechen and Dorje Drag, is one of the so-called “six large seats” of the Nyingma.
Mindröl-Ling Monastery
(see main article Mindrölling ) Mindröl-Ling monastery itself was built in its oldest parts towards the end of the 10th century in Dranang . It was founded in 1676 by the great Tertön Terdag Lingpa Gyurme Dorje ( Tib . : gter bdag gling pa 'gyur med rdo rje ; 1646-1714). It was destroyed during the Mongol invasions of Tibet , but rebuilt by Terdag Lingpa's daughter. The Mindröl-Ling monastery gave birth to more than 100 side monasteries that spread the tradition. In 1959 the 11th Minling Thrichen Rinpoche Thrichen Gyurme Künsang Wanggyel fled Tibet from the Chinese occupation. He was officially enthroned in 1962 by Düdjom Rinpoche and Dilgo Khyentse as "Minling Thrichen" (or "Mindröl-Ling-Thrichen"). In 1976 he became the throne holder of the newly built Mindröl-Ling monastery in Dehradun , and he was also elected "head of the Nyingma" in the Tibetan government in exile .
Teachings and terms of Orgyen Terdag Lingpa
Mindröl Ling Monastery is known for its studies in the five classical sciences and is the holder of the terma transmissions by Orgyen Terdag Lingpa, which according to tradition complement the terma of the famous 5th Dalai Lama Ngawang Lobsang Gyatsho . The tradition instructs in all of the classical teachings that are characteristic of the Nyingma tradition. Among them, the teachings of Dzogchen the "Great Perfection" have an outstanding meaning.
