Mineviku varjud (in English shadow of the past ) is the title of an Estonian silent film from 1924.

Estonia in the 13th / 14th Century: the Knights of the Brothers of the Sword advance with cross and sword against the pagan Estonian tribes . The Estonians are fighting for their fate. They manage to defend their freedom from the invaders in bloody battles.

The plot for Mineviku varjud is based - like the feature film Esimese öö õigus , made the following year - on the tragic history of the Estonians and their defense against foreign usurpers. The national romantic theme of the centuries-long struggle for the freedom of the Estonian people is the focus of the feature film.

The adventurous historical drama from the Middle Ages was the first full-length Estonian feature film. Directed by Valter Palm and A. Nugis. The director of the camera was the Estonian film pioneer Konstantin Märska .
