geography

The municipality is on the border with the Charente-Maritime department , eight kilometers southwest of the city of Cognac . The Canal du Né , the canalized section of the River Né, begins at Gimeux .

The neighboring communities are Merpins in the north, Salles-d'Angles in the east, Celles in the south and Ars in the west.
