Mareuil is a French municipality with 405 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine (before 2016 Poitou-Charentes ); it belongs to the arrondissement of Cognac and the canton of Val de Nouère (until 2015 Rouillac ).

Mareuil is about nineteen kilometers northeast of Cognac . Mareuil is surrounded by the neighboring communities Neuvicq-le-Château in the north and north-west, Rouillac in the south and east, Sigogne in the south and south-west and Courbillac in the west.
