Étriac is a western French community with 201 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine .

Étriac is located about 24 kilometers (driving distance) southwest of Angoulême in the cultural landscape of the Angoumois at an altitude of about 120 meters above sea level. d. M.

Until the end of the 19th century, the population of the municipality fluctuated between 300 and 400; As a result of the phylloxera crisis in viticulture and the mechanization of agriculture , the number of inhabitants then fell continuously to the lows of recent decades.

For centuries, the inhabitants of the community lived from agriculture; the soils of the municipality belong to the fins bois of the Cognac wine-growing region and so there are several vineyards in the vicinity of the place. Église Saint-Germain

• The parish church ( Église Saint-Germain ) is to be assigned to the early 12th century; the apse was redesigned in the 15th century and received a late Gothic tracery window . A small bell gable rises above the transition from the nave to the choir area . The outer walls and facade are stabilized by buttresses . The otherwise unadorned archivolt portal has an overlay arch in the form of a diamond or star rod . A console frieze runs below the gable with an unframed window . The nave was originally intended to be vaulted; today it only has a flat ceiling. A figurative capital shows the fight of a woman (?) Against a dragon. The church has been recognized as a monument historique since 1965 .
• Only a round tower remains from a late medieval country house ( logis ). The other components were modernized in the 19th century.
