Wolfgang Rodi (born September 30, 1942 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German engineering scientist and university professor .

Life

Rodi studied aeronautical engineering at the University of Stuttgart , where he graduated in 1966 as a Dipl.-Ing. from. In 1973 he received his Ph.D. at Imperial College London , where he held a position as research assistant at the Department of Mechanical Engineering from 1968 to 1972. He returned to Germany, where he was the project manager of the Collaborative Research Center 80 at the University of Karlsruhe , where he received his habilitation in 1978 for the work on turbulence models and their application to problems in hydraulic engineering . From 1981 to 2007 Rodi was Professor and Head of the Turbulent Flows Department at the Institute for Hydromechanics in Karlsruhe .

Rodi deals with calculation methods for turbulent flows, with the application of the calculation methods to a wide range of engineering and environmental problems as well as with the supporting experimental investigations of turbulent flows.
