Attractions

Church Saint-Germain and Saint-Protais
  • The parish church of Saint-Germain et Saint-Protais is a Romanesque building from the 12th century, the outer walls of which, made of roughly worked rubble stones , were reinforced and raised in the 13th century by buttresses in order to be able to draw in a (new?) Vault inside; On this occasion, the facade of the building was renewed and gothicized . The apse, which is extended to the east by a choir bay, with its blind arcade structure and five windows with inserted columns is largely preserved in its original form ; the surrounding console frieze shows the original height of the eaves . At the end of the 19th century, the church received a neo-Romanesque crossing tower , which is modeled on the cathedral of Angoulême . The church has been recognized as a monument historique since 1907 . Some historical furnishings are also listed, including some medieval capitals , a bell from 1687 and the like. a. (→ web link).
  • A former poor house ( aumônerie ) for pilgrims has been preserved. Nearby stands a monolithic octagonal column shaft and a calvary cross with a crucifix on a stepped base framed by medieval capitals .
  • The Château de Lerse is located in the south of the municipality and takes its name from the Arce river. The building complex, which dates from the late 15th and 16th centuries and is in an idyllic location, is privately owned.
