Rouillac is a French commune with 2,976 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Charente in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It belongs to the arrondissement of Cognac and the canton of Val de Nouère (until 2015: canton of Rouillac ). The inhabitants are called Rouillacais .
It was created with effect from January 1, 2016 by merging the former municipalities of Rouillac , Plaizac and Sonneville , creating a commune nouvelle of the same name called Rouillac . The former municipalities have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . On January 1, 2019, Gourville also joined. The administrative headquarters are in the village of Rouillac.

geography
Rouillac is located about 19 kilometers northeast of Cognac on the River Nouère . Previously, Rouillac was surrounded by the neighboring communities of Val-d'Auge with Montigné in the north, Gourville in the northeast, Saint-Cybardeaux in the east, Vaux-Rouillac in the south, Plaizac in the southwest, Mareuil in the west and Sonneville in the northwest.
The former Routes nationales 139 (today's D939) and 736 (today's D736) run through the municipality .
Parish partnership
A partnership has existed with the German municipality of Wiesentheid in Bavaria since 1972.
