Ars is a French commune with 723 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Charente department . The inhabitants call themselves Les Arsais .

geography

The community is on the border with the Charente-Maritime department , eight kilometers southwest of the city of Cognac , more spaciously about halfway between Angoulême and the Atlantic coast. The Canal du Né , the canalized section of the River Né, begins at Ars .

The neighboring municipalities are Salignac-sur-Charente in the north, Merpins in the northeast, Gimeux in the east, Celles in the south, Coulonges in the southwest and Pérignac in the west.
