Mini Clubman

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Mini Clubman is the station wagon from the Mini automobile brand from BMW . The first generation of the vehicle was presented in 2007, the second and current generation in 2014. With this Mini, too, the reference to the original Mini was made with a retro design .

Mini Clubman 1969 to 1981

Morris Mini Minor Traveler (1966)

The use of the term Clubman for the station wagon is a departure from the mini tradition. Clubman originally meant a facelift version of the classic Mini. The estate models were once called Traveler or Countryman.

From 1969 this Mini Clubman was available with a longer engine compartment and a "square" front compared to the standard version, which replaced the more expensive Rileys and Wolseleys and was replaced in 1980 by the Mini Metro . The new shape came from Roy Haynes. The Clubman was only available as a sedan with a short wheelbase and a station wagon with a long wheelbase.

The long wheelbase versions (the station wagon with rear bench seat and side windows, the two-seater mini van without rear side windows and the pickup) were produced until 1981 and always had the external door hinges of the MK-I / MK-II series. The Clubman Estate, on the other hand, (station wagon with rear side windows and angular front) had interior door hinges and crank windows, as they were introduced at the same time for the sedans of the MK III series.

The Mini Clubman Estate not only has a different front mask than the station wagon, it also differs from the van / pickup in other ways.

The name Clubman is a new name from Mini for the combi model. Traditionally, Traveler or Countryman was once used for these vehicles. As with the basic model , the Clubman could be ordered as One, Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper SD, Cooper S or John Cooper Works (JCW). The vehicles were optionally available with a 6-speed manual gearbox or with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

In addition to the two rear doors, the vehicle now also has two fully-fledged rear entry doors. With a vehicle length of 4253 millimeters, the Clubman belongs to the compact class . Until the introduction of the second generation of the Mini Countryman , the vehicle was the largest product in the Mini range. In the rear doors, large horizontal taillights are used with a lighting design that differs from that of the other body variants.
Engines from the new BMW modular system are also built into the Clubman, which means that there are also in -line three-cylinder Otto and
diesel engines that all meet the EU6 emissions standard.

Facelift 2019

A facelift was presented at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2019. A SIM card is permanently installed for the intelligent emergency call so that the Clubman is always online; With the Connected Navigation equipment , map updates are automatically transmitted. Radio with Bluetooth , USB connection and 6.5-inch color display is standard. The doors can also be locked with a smartphone and the flasher, horn and ventilation can be operated and the position of the car and its tank content can be displayed.

The grille is now designed without a clasp. LED taillights have Union Jack design on request .
