The history of the Oederaner Miniature Park begins at the beginning of the 20th century. In 1909/10 the municipal “Nativity Scene Association” was founded, which organized annual Christmas and nativity shows. In 1924 some members created the "Association for Local Folk Art". Ore Mountain sights were recreated in miniature under its roof. In 1933 the "Klein-Erzgebirge" was opened to visitors. In May 1933 the exhibition started in the Oederaner Stadtwald. The Second World War interrupted the miniature show. In 1955 the park reopened at the new location in the Oederaner Stadtpark.

The "Klein-Erzgebirge" is one of the world's oldest miniature parks . With over 200 exhibits it shows the architecture and economy of the Ore Mountains, but above all stories from the Ore Mountains are told. The models (today on a scale of 1:25) are made of wood following the Erzgebirge folk art and equipped with hand-carved figures and animals as well as landscape designs. The exhibition also includes numerous model railways as well as groups of figures and scenarios powered by water power. Today the "Klein-Erzgebirge" covers an area of ​​17,000 square meters. There are now several adventure areas for children on the site (playground, park railway, miniature “Sachsenring” as a slope for remote-controlled cars, etc.). The annual “Night in the Klein-Erzgebirge” is the highlight of the year.

The newly built "Haus am Klein-Erzgebirge" opened in 1997, connected to the miniature park. The building contains a restaurant with traditional Erzgebirge and regional cuisine and a shop for Erzgebirge folk art, which sells products from regional manufacturers and repairs damaged carvings. In the cellar vault of the building there is an exhibition on mining in the Ore Mountains and the "Tenne" event room on the upper floor.
