The Mirae-hanguk party ( Korean : 미래 한국당 , transliteration : Mirae-hanguk-dang ; German : Zukunftspartei Koreas ) was a conservative opposition party in South Korea that was founded on February 5, 2020 as a sister party to the Jayu-hanguk party , which took a few days later merged into the Mirae-tonghap party , was founded. It was founded in order to give preference to smaller parties in the parliamentary elections in South Korea in 2020 .

At the end of May 2020, the party was integrated into the Mirae-tonghap party.

history

Han Sun-kyo was elected as the first party chairman . However, he resigned from his post on March 19, 2020 together with other party leaders due to internal disputes. One day later, Won Yoo-chul, the MP for the city of Pyeongtaek, was appointed as his successor . On March 24, 2020, the party appointed several women as new party spokespersons.

Due to the fact that the required number of 20 Gukhoe MPs transferred to the MHP, the party was able to set up a negotiating group (교섭 단체). As a result, the party received, among other things, more financial support for the election campaign.

After the 2020 general election

In the election, the Mirae hanguk party won 19 seats. Among other things, the North Korean refugee Ji Seong-ho moved into the Gukhoe for them. It was originally thought that the MHP would unite with the Mirae-tonghap party after the election. However, since the formation of a negotiating group, for which 20 MPs are necessary, would bring considerable financial advantages, it was considered to send a MP from the MTP to the MHP. In addition, an association with the Gungminui party of Ahn Cheol-soo was considered, as this party currently holds three seats. A little later, an agreement was reached on the full integration of the MHP into the Mirae-tonghap party.
