Miranda Sings is an internet - character , which since the year 2008 by the comedienne , actress , Webvideoproduzentin and singer Colleen Ballinger (* 21st November 1986 will) embodies. In the said videos the character sings badly, discusses current events, which she often misinterprets, makes unprofessional tutorials and complains about her " haters " ("Haters back off!").

Ballinger invented the character as a reference to many bad singers who hope for a breakthrough by uploading YouTube videos. She initially performed with her character in cabaret , including in New York , London , Canada and Australia . She is now touring North America and Europe with her sister Rachel Ballinger and assistant Kory Desoto .

Miranda Sings has appeared in numerous Internet interviews , other web series and in episode 3x11 of the American television series Victorious . On October 14, 2016, Netflix released the first season of the Internet character-based comedy series Haters Back Off . After the second season, the series was discontinued in 2017.
