Miss Beazley 2005

Miss Beazley (born October 28, 2004 in New Jersey ; died May 17, 2014 in Texas ) was a Scottish Terrier owned by former US President George W. Bush and his wife Laura .

Life

Miss Beazley was bred by Patricia Gilmore in Livingston , New Jersey . Her father was the half-brother of Bush's first Scottish Terrier Barney .

The dog came into the family as a birthday present from George W. Bush to his wife Laura, shortly before Bush began his second term. She came into the family's possession as a ten-week-old puppy and continued to live in the White House . The dog was named by Laura Bush and her two daughters after a character from Oliver Butterworth 's children's book The Enormous Egg (1956).

Like all US Presidents' pets, Miss Beazley received increased media coverage. Her arrival at the White House was even reported internationally. She made her first big appearance at Christmas 2005 in the Barney cam video A Very Beazley Christmas . More films with her and Barney followed.

After the end of her second term, Miss Beazley moved with the Bush family to Texas, where she subsequently lived until her death on May 17, 2014. She was only nine years old and, like Barney, died of lymphatic cancer .

In the library of the George W. Bush Presidential Center is a bronze sculpture of Barney and Miss Beazley.
