Not with me, du Knallkopp is a German comedy film made in the summer of 1982 by the successful duo May Spils (director) and Werner Enke (leading role).

action

Munich-Schwabing has changed since To the point, honey . The times for the old sleepy and eternal student Charly and his buddy heartbreaker Harry, once a woman happier than he is in the book, are no longer so golden, and the money is no longer on the street - especially not for a notoriously work-shy Tourists like Charly. Then Harry comes up with the "glorious" idea that Charly over 40 should try it in his old days as a professional footballer. But for once he comes to a correct conclusion: "At most I can play in the youth team from the old people's home". Before you can start implementing this crazy idea, Harry, or more precisely: Harry's dog Wurstl, a momentous mishap happens. After a hunting accident caused by a hobby hunter, the animal plops injured into the Saale , at that time a German-German border river, and is promptly driven to the "wrong" side: in Thuringia, in the GDR .

Stasi agent Charlotte Schubert receives the illegal border violator. The “People's Scout”, who is strictly loyal to the line, with a silver eye and a pageboy is dispatched to the Federal Republic to track down two GDR agents who have been lost in Munich and to get them back on track. Because the two are not making any progress with their assignment, the naturally top secret plans of the weapons manufacturer Dr. Finke, a brawny bald man with a Hitler mustache. He developed a weapon that shoots around the corner, with which the dog Wastl was already shot. Finke's development of the “miracle weapon” is well advanced, and of course Charlotte's superior, SED officer Rufus Schubiak, himself has the greatest interest - “for the glory of socialism”, of course - to get into possession of this extraordinary shooting stick.

Charlotte's port of call in the Bavarian capital is Harry and Charly's abode, which she found out thanks to Wurstl's necklaces. Between Charlotte and Charly, who actually have nothing in common, things are starting to spark. One day Charly meets the hunter in the restaurant where he works, who hit Wurstl with his rifle shooting around the corner. He decides to get back at the disagreeable capitalist. After further amusing entanglements, Charly convinces his communist companion to prefer fraternization and embracing with the "class enemy" and, like Greta Garbo as Ninotschka , to stay in the West. Because as the convinced idler and always nonsense Charly says so beautifully: “You can rely on me. I am always there when I feel bad ”. And so Charlotte finally leaves party and mission behind ...

Production notes

Not with me, du Knallkopp was written in the summer of 1982 and premiered on March 4, 1983.

Werner Enke was involved in the script under the pseudonym "Peter Schlieper". After the film had hardly made any money at the box office and was withdrawn from distribution early, Enke and Spils no longer shot a comedy work together.

Reviews

“Lively slogans, ambiguous gags - these are the trademarks of Spils / Enke products. Neither of these is missing in her new work (...) You hardly have a chance to rest with this gag fireworks display. The humorous chaos Spils and Enke have made a refreshingly hearty comedy stew with all the rough, fine and crazy things, a film from which you come out completely exhausted. "

- Cinema , issue 58, no. 3/1983, p. 55

“A Bavarian member of parliament, who works as a sideline gun dealer, invents an automatic rifle that the twin brother from the GDR is trying to get into his possession. The confused, socially critical story serves the once so successful duo Spils / Enke ('To the point, sweetheart') as a vehicle for tired to embarrassing puns. "

“And even if you understand that a defiant, childish thunderstorm of slapstick shook heads when Margarethe von Trotta and Wim Wenders were telling their stories with seriousness at the same time: Today, in addition to the top slogans, one notices above all the insane physical sitcom quality of Enke, the downright turns through the film. He plays nonsense football and nonsense billiards, he drives nonsense tandem, and it is probably only because of the Tati de Funès tradition, which unfortunately is missing in this country, that Knallkopp has not yet been rediscovered. Because he deserves it. "
