The Mittelberg is about 510 m above sea level. NHN high, wooded mountain west of the Spalter hill country in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The mountain is one of the highest elevations in the Haundorf Forest .

The wooded Mittelberg rises in the northwest of the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district. To the south is the Haundorf district of Seitersdorf , to the west the Haubenberg rises . The Seitersdorfer Bach flows to the south and the Ziegelleitenbach to the north , both tributaries of the Erlbach . The district road WUG 22 leads south, the federal road 466 east past the mountain.
Natural allocation
The Mittelberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group Franconian Keuper-Lias-Land (No. 11), in the main unit Middle Franconian Basin (113) and in the sub-unit Southern Middle Franconian Plates (113.3) to the natural area of the southern foreland of the Spalter Hügelland (with Brombachgrund) ( 113.33).
