Mladen Pralija (born January 28, 1959 ) is a former Yugoslav football player .

Career

Mladen Pralija was signed in 1987 as the successor to the dismissed goalkeeper Uli Stein from the Yugoslav first division club Hajduk Split from Hamburger SV . He was recommended by the then coach Josip Skoblar , who coached HSV from this season.

Pralija made his debut on August 8, 1987 in a 6-0 draw against arch-rivals FC Bayern Munich . He was also initially on the pitch in the 2: 8 at Borussia Mönchengladbach on September 26, 1987, but was replaced by Richard Golz when the score was 1: 3 due to a head injury . Nevertheless, there were also excellent games by Pralija (e.g. the 2-2 against 1. FC Nürnberg on September 11, 1987), which are hardly taken into account in the retrospective of his performance. After Skoblar's dismissal, Pralija was suspended by the new coach Willi Reimann and left HSV with a record of 35 goals conceded in 14 games. Pralija later commented on his difficult time at Hamburger SV: “ From day one, the situation was completely confused for me. I didn't have an apartment, my wife Sonia was still in Split, and a little later got our son Ivan. And I alone in Hamburg. Nobody from the club helped me. I didn't understand the language. "

In July 1988 he moved back to Hajduk Split. After that, Pralija worked as a trainer.

His successors at HSV were Heinz-Josef Koitka and Richard Golz .
