The Moderfitzsee is a small natural lake in the district of Himmelpfort in the city of Fürstenberg / Havel .
Geographical location and hydrography
It is located in the natural area of the Neustrelitz Kleinseenland in the Uckermärkische Seen nature reserve . According to the characterization in the profile, the lake is a lime-rich, unstratified lake with a relatively large catchment area. It has a west-east extension of about 1.2 km and in north-south direction a width of about 770 m. It has an area of approx. 56 ha (approx. 58 ha) and is approx. 10 m deep at its deepest point. A small island protrudes from the lake almost in the center.
history
The lake was first mentioned in a document as early as 1299 ( stagnum Westwitz ). Along with 38 other lakes named above, it was part of the initial equipment of the Himmelpfort monastery . The name is written in this document. In 1331 he is called Wusteruiz, in the inheritance register of the Badingen and Himmelpfort from 1574 he is written as Wutenitz. The basic form old Polish * Vostrovica to * vostrov = island denotes a lake with an island; this applies to the Moderfitzsee. The current form came about through the wrong reading M instead of W and was adapted to Moder.
Management and leisure
The lake is managed by the lake fishery Himmelpfort GbR, FB Gensch. There is a swimming area at the western end of the lake.
