The Himmelpforter Haussee is the lowest lake in the course of the Lychener waters , a left tributary of the upper Havel . "Haussee" is the name of the small natural lake because of its proximity to the Himmelpfort monastery and the associated village of Himmelpfort , which is now part of the town of Fürstenberg / Havel .

Although it is located in the Oberhavel district of Brandenburg , it is included in the natural space of the Neustrelitz Kleinseenland and is also included in the Uckermärkische Seen nature reserve .

Geographical location and hydrography

The Haussee belongs to a small group of lakes around the former Himmelpfort monastery; these include Stolpsee , Sidowsee , Moderfitzsee , Haussee and Piansee as well as the very small Moddersee . It is located about 6 km east of the city center of Fürstenberg / Havel. The house lake has an area of 0.4 to 0.5 km² and a maximum depth of 5 m. In the southeast lies the forest area of the Himmelpforter Heide .

history

The lake was part of the original equipment of the Himmelpfort monastery , founded in 1299 . The monastery had the sole right to use the lake. However, the identification is not entirely certain, the name Haussee is more recent and does not appear in the foundation deed from 1299. Some authors favor the opinion that the stagnum Wublitz mentioned in the foundation deed can be identified with the house lake. According to the order in which it is named, the Haussee is more likely to be identified with the stagnum blockenthien (according to the Brandenburg monastery book (detailed map, p. 621) and the Brandenburg name book). Probably the original name Blockenthin is to be interpreted as a settlement name that was transferred to the lake. An old Slavic settlement was probably located on the north bank of the house lake. The name Haussee is a very common lake name in Brandenburg that has replaced older names. It describes lakes that belong to a castle, a knight's seat, a palace or a monastery.

Management

The lake is managed by the lake fishery Himmelpfort GbR, FB Gensch.
