Geneviève Winding

Geneviève Winding (born November 27, 1927 in Paris , † April 15, 2008 in Saint-Cloud , Hauts-de-Seine ) was a French film editor .

Life

After the liberation of France from German troops, Geneviève Winding became involved in the reconstruction of Europe as part of the Marshall Plan . For Marcel Camus ' drama Orfeu Negro (1959) she worked as an assistant editor in the film business for the first time. From 1961 she was regularly employed as an editor. At the first César awards ceremony in 1976, Winding won the French film award in the Best Editing category for Jacques Rouffio's film drama Quartet Bestial . She then worked with Rouffio on the comedy Violette and François (1977) and the crime film Zucker, Zucker! (1978) together. For Lautlose Angst (1978) with Michel Piccoli , Die Bankiersfrau (1980) with Romy Schneider , Souvenirs, Souvenirs (1984) with Philippe Noiret and Indochine (1992) with Catherine Deneuve , Winding received four further nominations for the César . In 1996 she retired from the film business.

Winding was married to the cameraman Andréas Winding until his death in 1977. Their son Romain Winding (* 1951) also became a cameraman. Geneviève Winding died in 2008 at the age of 80 in Saint-Cloud , not far from her hometown Paris .
